Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Autonomy Systems Engineer in Tucson to bridge autonomy software teams with base machine hardware. You will ensure architecture and integration align with program requirements, support testing, and contribute to developing algorithms for robotic platforms.

The role requires experience in system-level requirements, field deployment, and travel up to 20%. Domestic relocation is available. The position is onsite in Tucson, AZ.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of problem solving approaches, tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with software development life cycle processes.
• Understanding industry trends and regulatory considerations.
• Experience designing and executing software product testing strategies.
• Ability to use application and system development tools.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues across hardware/software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the engineering interface between autonomy software teams and base machine systems.
• Ensure program requirements are met on time, cost and quality.
• Support software and hardware integration for autonomous hauling.
• Document architecture specs, test plans and operating procedures.
• Assist verification and validation including hardware-in-the-loop tests.
• Contribute to development of application software and robotic algorithms.
