Job summary

Relay Robotics seeks an autonomy software generalist to span perception, localization, mapping, and planning, collaborating with hardware, firmware, applications, and operations teams. The role emphasizes end-to-end problem solving from algorithms to fleet-scale deployment in a fast-moving robotics and AI environment.

You will contribute to a broad stack, design and tune path planning, develop perception and SLAM systems, and help scale deployments across multiple customers while maintaining

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in robotics, CS, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years developing production robotics or autonomy software.
  • Strong ROS, C++, and Python in Linux environments.
  • Hands-on with perception, planning, SLAM, or localization.
  • Experience deploying deep learning models and sensor data.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, tune, and improve path and motion planning for robust robot motion.
  • Develop perception algorithms using deep learning and classical CV.
  • Implement SLAM, localization, and mapping with modern ML enhancements.
  • Select and evaluate lidar, camera, and ToF sensors balancing cost and performance.
  • Maintain calibration routines for sensors and fleet data pipelines.
  • Shape autonomy roadmap by identifying gaps and proposing milestones.
  • Build tools and metrics to test, evaluate, and improve fleet performance.
  • Uphold software engineering practices: Git, code reviews, CI/CD, deploy pipelines.
