Job summary

General Motors is advancing hands-off autonomous driving systems for broad deployment; the role focuses on sensor system design, modeling, and performance verification to enable scalable deployment across vehicle programs.

You will work with simulation, vehicle integration, perception, and localization teams to ensure sensor performance meets product needs and to document decisions and trade-offs clearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience with sensor experience
• Experience supporting sensor analysis, integration, and cross-domain technical initiatives
• Technical depth in signal processing, link analysis, data analysis, or ML across at least one relevant sensing modality
• Understand of the challenges of self-driving, and how those map to sensor needs
• Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively in complex problem spaces and collaborate across teams
• Experience with Matlab, Python, or other language to support data analysis and analysis tooling development

Responsibilities

• Execute system-level trade studies for the design of multi-modality sensor systems with detailed modeling of performance and AV behavioral impacts
• Develop detailed performance specifications for sensors based on sensor physics and signal processing
• Assess performance against product needs to understand risk and drive continuous improvement
• Work closely with simulation, vehicle integration, perception, localization, and validation teams to manage interdependencies
• Clearly document technical decisions, trade-offs, and deliverables
