Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, Texas is seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer to advance localization algorithms for autonomous and semiautonomous systems.

You will design, prototype and productionize software that estimates position and altitude using perception, inertial, and GNSS inputs, with a focus on robust real-time performance. You will write high-quality C++ and Python, collaborate with teammates, mentor others, and contribute to safety and validation processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in robotics or related field.
• Strong proficiency in C++ with production-quality software experience for robotics or autonomous systems.
• Experience with localization, navigation, or real-time systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research and design of localization algorithms and software.
• Develop production quality C++ software including design, documentation, coding, product quality, and validation.
• Contributes to requirements generation and architecture design considerations for the localization architecture.
• Support functional safety software design and validation process.
• Collaborate and mentor localization team members to execute on goal.
