Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer to help advance localization for autonomous and semiautonomous systems.

You will prototype and productionize algorithms using perception-based, inertial, and GNSS inputs, and contribute to design, documentation and validation. You will collaborate with a team to deliver robust software in C++ and Python, mentor teammates, and ensure functional safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or CS.
• 4+ years in robotics or autonomous solutions.
• Strong C++ production-grade software experience.
• Experience with localization, navigation, or real-time systems.
• Familiarity with ROS and perception/inertial/GNSS data fusion.

Responsibilities

• Research and design localization algorithms and software.
• Develop production-quality C++ software with validation.
• Contributes to architecture and requirements for the localization architecture.
• Support functional safety software design and validation process.
• Collaborate and mentor localization team members to execute on goal.
