Caterpillar Inc. is seeking senior robotics talent to advance the autonomy stack on real machines at our Irving, TX site. You will own components from idea through production, spanning perception to control and learning, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment.

The role emphasizes deep expertise in AI/perception or motion planning, production-quality code, and hands-on work with hardware on customer sites. Visa and relocation support may be considered.

Qualifications

• Typically 10+ years of related engineering experience.
• Strong robotics generalist—comfortable moving across the autonomy stack.
• Deep expertise in at least one area: AI, motion planning, perception, controls, or SLAM.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python, production-quality.
• Experience with ROS or similar robotics frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Participate in test review, analysis, witnessing and certification of robotics software.
• Design, build, and ship autonomy components across perception, planning, control, and learning.
• Take work from prototype to production on real hardware.
• Contribute across the stack while owning your components end-to-end.
• Work in small pods with outcomes-focused ownership.
