Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer in Irving, TX to develop localization algorithms and production-ready software for autonomous systems.

The role focuses on estimating position using perception-based, inertial, and GNSS inputs, and bringing prototypes to production with robust testing and validation. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in robotics/autonomy, strong C++ and Python skills, experience with Kalman filtering and ROS, and a solid foundation in mathematics and 3D

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in robotics, electrical/CS engineering.
• 4+ years of robotics/autonomous solution experience.
• Strong C++ production-quality software for robotics, autonomy, localization, navigation, or real-time systems.
• Experience implementing filtering solutions including Kalman filters.
• Knowledge of inertial navigation and ROS.

Responsibilities

• Research and design localization algorithms and software.
• Develop production-quality C++ software with design, documentation, coding, validation.
• Contribute to localization architecture requirements and design considerations.
• Support functional safety software design and validation process.
• Collaborate and mentor localization team members to achieve goals.
