Job summary

DoorDash Labs in Oakland is hiring a Hardware Validation Engineer to verify and validate our next-generation autonomous delivery robot, Dot. You will develop and execute test campaigns to ensure performance, safety, and regulatory goals.

You will join the V&V team based in Oakland, with occasional travel to test sites in CA, AZ, and MI. This role will require collaboration across DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI and Ops to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in engineering (robotics, mechanical, electrical or CS).
• 5+ years in automotive or mechatronics testing & validation at system level.
• Hands-on CAN bus and Ethernet data logging/analysis experience.
• Experience with environmental testing (thermal, shock, IP).
• Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional projects.
• Solid understanding of vehicle mechanics and electronics.
• Familiarity with autonomous vehicle perception systems.

Responsibilities

• Validate next-generation robot delivery hardware and tests.
• Develop and execute robot system tests with requirement owners.
• Assess electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, and sensing performance.
• Improve robot reliability through rigorous testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI and Ops to plan and resolve issues.
• Create and maintain test tooling, fixtures, and documentation.
• Lead test reviews and report progress of the test program.
