Job summary

Michsafetyconference is seeking an experienced Functional Safety Consultant in Auburn Hills, MI to advance ISO 26262 compliance for automotive powertrain systems. The role requires hands-on analysis, model-based development, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams nationwide.

You'll perform safety analyses, develop safety requirements, manage safety case documentation, and ensure end-to-end traceability throughout the V-model lifecycle. 8+ years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Electronics/Automotive engineering.
• 8+ years in automotive electronics focusing on powertrain functional safety.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 safety standards.
• Hands-on with Medini Analyze and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with HAZOP, HARA, FTA, FMEDA, and DFMEA.

Responsibilities

• Perform Functional Safety Analysis and define Item Definitions.
• Develop and maintain system models using Medini Analyze and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Conduct HAZOP and HARA to identify malfunctions and ASIL.
• Identify and evaluate risks across operating conditions.
• Derive FSRs and TSRs and allocate to hardware/software.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability of safety requirements across V-model work products.
• Develop Safety Case documentation ensuring ISO 26262 compliance.
