Job summary
Pro Staff in Southfield, MI is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced automotive systems. This role requires strong expertise in ISO 26262, SOTIF, systems engineering, and automotive safety compliance, with experience at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier in a functional safety environment.
Responsibilities include leading Functional Safety Concepts, FSR, safety architecture, validation, and collaboration with engineering and supplier teams to ensure safety
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in a related engineering discipline
- Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 8 years in functional safety or systems engineering in automotive
- Experience with ISO 26262 lifecycle activities and SOTIF analyses
Responsibilities
- Lead development of Functional Safety Concepts, HARA, Functional Safety Requirements, and Technical Safety Requirements
- Define and review safety architecture for vehicle systems, hardware, and software
- Support safety validation, verification activities, and readiness metrics
- Develop and maintain functional safety processes, documentation, and compliance activities
- Collaborate with engineering, validation, and supplier teams to ensure safety requirements are achieved
- Drive risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety-focused decision-making throughout product development
