Job summary

42dot is seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to design, implement, and optimize the core real-time software stack powering Hyundai SDV platforms. You will drive BSPs, drivers, and RTOS tuning while ensuring MISRA C compliance and ISO 26262 safety.

Bring-up prototype hardware in Sunnyvale and collaborate with hardware, V&V, and systems teams. Strong C/C++ and safety-focused experience are essential for delivering high-performance, deterministic firmware.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on embedded software engineering delivering production-grade firmware for resource-constrained platforms.
• Expert-level C/C++ with memory management, concurrency, and debugging proficiency.
• RTOS experience including task scheduling, synchronization, interrupt handling, and ISRs.
• Static analysis tools experience (Coverity, Polyspace, QAC, Cppcheck).
• Hands-on hardware bring-up and debugging with oscillosopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
• Functional safety knowledge under ISO 26262 with trace-to-requirements discipline.
• Modern tooling with Git, Bazel, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain low-level BSPs, drivers, and stacks (CAN-FD, Ethernet/TSN, SPI, I2C, UART).
• Write deterministic MISRA C code meeting safety guidelines.
• Configure and optimize RTOS environments, manage timing constraints and ISRs.
• Lead hardware bring-up for prototype boards and characterize system performance.
• Troubleshoot HW/SW interactions using JTAG/SWD, analyzers, and protocol tools.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and V&V teams to define interfaces and validate code on target MCUs.
• Develop host-side tooling and build automation using Python or shell scripts.
