Job summary

42dot is seeking a Staff Embedded Firmware Engineer in Sunnyvale to drive the core real-time software stack for safety-critical platforms powering Hyundai SDV integration. You will lead architecture, BSPs, drivers, RTOS work, and MISRA/ISO 26262 compliance while coordinating hardware bring-up in Sunnyvale labs and collaborating with HW, systems, and V&V teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on embedded software for safety-critical or resource-constrained platforms.
• Embedded C/C++ mastery with memory models, concurrency, and deterministic execution.
• Proven RTOS architecture, timing analysis, and synchronization primitives.
• Experience with enterprise static analysis tools and rulesets.
• MCU/SoC architectures, registers, and automotive buses (CAN-FD, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).
• Board bring-up in hardware labs with debugging tools.
• Experience delivering software under regulated safety frameworks with traceability.
• Git/Bazel/CI/CD for firmware builds and testing.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement BSPs, HALs, drivers (GPIO, ADC, PWM, Timers) and high-throughput CAN-FD/Ethernet stacks.
• Architect and optimize RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS, AUTOSAR OS) and define task partitions.
• Enforce MISRA C/C++ and ISO 26262 practices with static analysis baselines.
• Lead silicon bring-up and system characterization, including interrupt latency and power budgeting.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues using JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Define hardware–software ICDs and bring-up tooling with cross-functional teams.
• Elevate code quality and mentor firmware engineers across the organization.
