Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to design, develop and test complex electrical architectures for new vehicle platforms in Welkom, Free State. You will ensure performance and safety of electrical components while collaborating across disciplines.

The role involves hands-on system integration, documentation, and compliance with automotive standards in a hybrid work model with on-site collaboration in Welkom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in automotive electrical systems engineering.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools and simulation software.
• Strong knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet).
• Experience with power electronics, battery management and charging systems.
• ISO 26262 functional safety knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical system architectures, wiring, power distribution and signal integrity.
• Specify and select electrical components, sensors and actuators.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics and documentation using CAD tools.
• Perform system integration, testing and validation on vehicle prototypes.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues during development and production phases.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and manufacturing teams.
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support development of diagnostic tools and procedures for electrical systems.
