Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our automotive client based in Welkom, Free State. You will drive concept-to-production of critical components, using CAD to deliver robust designs for performance and manufacturability.
You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform CAE analyses, and mentor junior designers while staying current with industry trends and standards in the automotive sector.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of mechanical design experience focused on automotive components.
- Strong 3D CAD skills: CATIA or SolidWorks.
- Experience with CAE for structural, thermal, and vibration analysis.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex automotive assemblies using advanced CAD.
- Perform stress, thermal, and vibration analysis to verify performance.
- Create detailed drawings, BOMs, and specifications for production.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for casting, machining, stamping.
- Support validation tests and analyze results.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
- Stay updated on automotive trends and technologies.
- Ensure conformance to automotive standards and customer requirements.
