Job summary

Serac Inc is seeking a senior automation engineer to lead packaging machinery projects end to end—from hardware selection and mechatronic integration to software development and field startup.

You will oversee budgets, timelines, and supplier management, while mentoring teams and ensuring safe, compliant operation on Rockwell/AB platforms; Siemens knowledge is a bonus. Onsite in Carol Stream, IL.

Qualifications

• Extensive Rockwell from-scratch programming experience.
• PLC and motion control depth with structured text.
• Hands-on troubleshooting across PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs and instruments.
• Safety standards knowledge (ISO 13849, IEC 60204, NFPA 79).
• Packaging or industrial machinery OEM experience.
• 5+ years in automation/control systems or a BSEE.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation projects from concept to industrialization and field startup.
• Develop all required software (Rockwell/AB, structured text, motion).
• Manage budgets, timelines, suppliers and project documentation.
• Mentor internal and external engineering teams on troubleshooting.
• Run field trials, validation and training at customer sites.
