Job summary

Precis Engineering + Architecture in Cary, NC seeks an Automation Engineer to develop and program PLC systems with HMI/SCADA, support on-site installations, and guide commissioning activities. You will travel locally to customer sites, configure Rockwell and Siemens platforms, and contribute to SDLC documentation.

Ideal candidates have 5–15 years in Rockwell PLC systems and strong ladder logic/FBD skills, plus proficiency with Rockwell Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or chemical engineering or equivalent.
• PE license not required; EIT/PE a plus.
• 5–15 years of Rockwell PLC experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA development from the ground up.
• Strong Siemens (TIA Portal/S7) experience is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Ladder Logic and Function Block Diagrams; able to develop from customer docs.

Responsibilities

• Develop instrument lists (IO lists), loop sheets, motor elementaries, and VFD diagrams.
• Design PLC systems with HMI and SCADA to meet customer requirements.
• Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA during installation and commissioning.
• Provide operator and maintenance training on system operation.
• Create SDLC documentation for PLC, HMI, and SCADA; user manuals and maintenance procedures.
• Collaborate with clients to ensure system functionality and satisfaction.
• Provide on-site technical support during installation and commissioning.
