Job summary

Amazon in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers by delivering proactive controls automation and technical support for material handling equipment (MHE) systems. You will mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams to optimize MHE and implement innovative projects.

You will work with state-of-the-art conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print/apply systems, and SCADA devices,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 4+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• 4+ years of process or production environment related PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis experience.
• 4+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience.
• 4+ years of Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Codesys Ladder Logic and structure programming experience.
• 4+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and analyze engineering issues; investigate root causes; plan actions to eliminate downtime of critical assets.
• Collaborate with Operations, FC Start-up, software teams, and safety to optimize MHE systems and implement projects.
• Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems: PLC/PC controllers; Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus; drives and electrical distribution.
• Monitor MHE metrics; provide analysis to address performance issues across operations.
• Provide escalation support during/after hours to repair hardware or controls software in the building.
