Job summary

Cypress HCM in Bartlett, IL, seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, programming, and integration of advanced robotic systems across manufacturing environments. You will mentor engineers, manage multi-project efforts, and ensure safety and reliability from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years in robotic automation or industrial automation environments.
• Hands-on experience programming and integrating industrial robots (FANUC/ABB/Yaskawa/KUKA).
• Advanced knowledge of PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Siemens).
• Experience with HMIs, motion control, machine vision, and industrial communication protocols.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning.
• Mentor engineers and technicians for collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Support quotes by developing automation concepts and estimating costs.
• Design and develop custom robotic automation systems for various applications.
• Program and integrate industrial robots (FANUC/ABB/Yaskawa/KUKA).
• Develop PLC, HMI, motion control, and machine vision solutions.
• Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and controls teams for seamless integration.
• Troubleshoot complex automation and safety issues throughout development and deployment.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations.
• Prepare technical documentation and customer handoff materials.
