Jobtailor is seeking a senior automation engineer in Dalton, GA to lead capital automation projects from concept to commissioning, designing PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for flooring production lines.

The role requires 7+ years of hands-on automation experience, leadership, and strong skills in MES integration, robotics, and industrial networks, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field).
• 7+ years of direct automation experience executing capital projects in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferably experience within flooring, building materials, or continuous processing industries.
• Advanced proficiency with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial networks, motion control, and robotics.
• Proven experience leading projects from concept through commissioning in live production environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage large-scale automation capital projects from concept through commissioning.
• Serve as technical lead for automation investments supporting flooring production processes.
• Design, develop, integrate, program, and validate PLC-, HMI-, and SCADA-based automation systems and industrial networks.
• Develop automation solutions for continuous processes, recipe management, changeovers, and product traceability.
• Standardize control architectures, hardware, and software across plants.
• Optimize manufacturing equipment and improve OEE, throughput, yield, energy efficiency, and scrap reduction.
