Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Testing Tools team in Mountain View, CA. You will own automation frameworks, testing infrastructure, and AI-assisted testing practices to enable safe, rapid shipping.

You’ll collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to improve reliability and security across identity verification platforms. You will design end-to-end and integration tests, champion canary releases, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in modern web applications and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python/TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright, Jest, and API automation.
• Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.
• Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC).
• Experience testing asynchronous, event-driven systems and Temporal.
• Security testing knowledge: RBAC/ReBAC, secrets management, tenant isolation.
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
• Experience with testing-in-production practices (canary, progressive rollout).
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis across frontend, backend, APIs, and distributed services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks with comprehensive test coverage.
• Develop end-to-end and integration testing strategies for complex, asynchronous systems.
• Lead testing-in-production practices to validate real-world behavior safely.
• Own security-focused test automation for authentication/authorization flows.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines for fast feedback.
• Apply AI tools to accelerate test authoring and planning.
• Advise on testable code structure and coverage gaps across development lifecycles.
• Debug and root-cause issues across frontend, backend, APIs, and distributed services.
• Define and track reliability metrics for tested systems.
