Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle seeks an experienced Automation/Controls Engineer to scale manufacturing across rocket facilities. You will design, implement, and maintain control systems, PLC and robot programs, and data-collection solutions to improve safety, quality and efficiency.

Collaborate with data-science teams, uphold world-class quality, and contribute to a culture of safety and inclusion as we work toward reliable, repeatable spaceflight.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience with automation software development languages (e.g. Ladder, ST, C/C++)
• 10+ years experience with controls and automation software development environments (e.g. Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley ControlLogix)
• 10+ years experience with 'from scratch' software development in automated tooling/equipment
• Ability to interpret and review electrical and mechanical drawings
• Strong design and process simplification skills
• Effective communication with partners
• Commitment to world-class quality and attention to detail
• U.S. citizen or eligible for work authorization

Responsibilities

• Support initiatives to improve reliability and efficiency of manufacturing via automation; define architecture, roadmaps and implementation
• Collaborate with data-science and analytics teams for data-driven manufacturing enhancements
• Electrical design and modification of industrial control and safety systems
• Design and modification of PLC and Robot programs
• Design of process control systems
• Develop data collection solutions
• Support development of SCADA apps (Ignition, Kepware, AWS, etc.)
• Provide production support for sophisticated manufacturing equipment
