Job summary

Blue Origin's Factory Automation team seeks an Automation Controls Engineer to design, build, and deploy automated manufacturing systems. You will lead controls architecture from concept through commissioning, applying first principles to diagnose root causes and craft robust solutions across the full project lifecycle.

The role spans design, offline simulation, online debugging, integration, installation, and startup. A hands-on engineer with a systems mindset will thrive here.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience developing or integrating industrial controls and automation systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with safety systems, safety PLCs, and safety-rated circuits.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on conceptual automated manufacturing equipment and contribute controls input from concept to design.
• Design control system architectures including network topology, I/O, safety systems, and protocols.
• Develop and debug PLC/HMI programs and integrate machines into unified control systems.
• Create documentation: sequences, I/O lists, diagrams, and program docs.
