Job summary

LHH is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to lead automation, controls, equipment integration, and standardization across multiple facilities. You will be hands-on technically while gaining visibility across large capital projects.

Responsibilities include designing and maintaining PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, troubleshooting, integrating new equipment, and supporting FAT/SAT, commissioning, and startup. Travel up to 50% across U.S. sites with remote work options.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industrial automation experience in manufacturing or process environments.
• Hands-on PLC programming experience with Rockwell Automation or similar.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems such as FactoryTalk or Ignition.
• Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and OPC protocols.
• Experience with automated packaging systems.
• Familiarity with GMP/GDP guidelines and regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot controls, instrumentation, and systems integration issues.
• Integrate new manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup.
• Improve equipment reliability, throughput, and operational visibility.
• Support production data collection including OEE, throughput, downtime, and yield.
• Develop control narratives, I/O lists, P&IDs, and SOPs.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, OEMs, vendors, and system integrators.
• Support capital projects, expansions, equipment upgrades, and multi-site automation standardization.
