Job summary

Andrews Cooper is seeking a Senior Software Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission PLC and HMI software for custom automation systems across diverse industries. You will integrate robots, motion systems, vision systems, sensors, and safety devices to deliver complete automation solutions.

The role emphasizes mentoring engineers, leading complex projects, and collaborating across engineering teams while supporting proposals and project planning.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Software or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent; MSEE is a plus.
• 7+ years of professional hands-on experience in Software Controls Engineering.
• Up to 20% travel may be required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for custom automation systems.
• Integrate automation components including robots, motion systems, vision systems, sensors, and safety devices.
• Troubleshoot and support machine startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance testing.
• Develop technical documentation including control specifications and software documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver complete automation solutions.
• Lead controls engineering efforts on complex projects.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical direction.
• Support proposal development, project planning, and customer technical discussions.
