Job summary

Andrews Cooper Technology seeks a Senior Software Controls Engineer to design, program, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for custom automation systems. You will integrate robots, motion systems, vision systems, sensors, and safety devices across multiple client sites.

The role requires 7+ years of hands-on Software Controls experience, PLC/HMI proficiency, and the ability to travel up to 20% of the time. A US work authorization and a strong background in automation are essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Software or Electrical Engineering; MSEE is a plus.
• 7+ years in Software Controls Engineering.
• Travel up to 20% between locations.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for custom automation systems.
• Integrate automation components including robots, motion systems, vision systems, sensors, and safety devices.
• Troubleshoot and support machine startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance testing.
• Develop technical documentation including control specifications and software documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to deliver complete automation solutions.
• Lead controls engineering efforts on complex projects; mentor engineers and provide technical direction.
• Support proposal development, project planning, and customer technical discussions.
