Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI is seeking a Manufacturing Controls Engineer III to lead design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing controls across machining, assembly, and test operations. You will drive complex automation initiatives, support new product launches, and collaborate with global engineering teams to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

The role requires at least 7 years in controls—with Siemens PLC/HMI expertise—and a track record in MES/FIS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in controls engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of PLC programming (Siemens) and HMI development (HMI PRO, WinCC Flex, and TIA Portal).
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Siemens controls.
• Experience in MES systems (e.g. SISAM).
• Experience in FIS systems (e.g. PRISMA).
• Experience with PC hardware and Microsoft Windows in a networked plant floor environment.
• Experience in a project lead role.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex automation projects and controls portions of projects.
• Implement and support PLC, CNC, HMI and Engine controls.
• Provide technical assistance to manufacturing operations and support teams.
• Coordinate with suppliers, schedule installations, and manage budgets/ CAPEX.
• Promote continuous improvements and evaluate new controls technologies.
• Coach, mentor, and delegate to team members.
