Job summary

Slate is seeking a Senior Buyer for Chassis in Troy, MI to own sourcing strategy for critical automotive categories, lead RFIs, RFQs, and commercial negotiations for production parts, tooling, and services. You will ensure supplier readiness, manage risk, and partner with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Cost Estimating, and Finance to drive launch timing.

You will also drive supplier development, maintain performance scorecards, and lead cost-reduction initiatives across categories

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred.
10+ years of combined experience in Procurement/Supply Chain Management or Engineering.
5+ years of experience in the automotive industry with category specialization.
Experience negotiating complex, multi-million-dollar supply contracts.
Track record of enterprise-level cost reduction across categories.

Responsibilities

Own and set sourcing strategy for critical automotive categories to meet cost, quality and launch targets.
Lead RFIs, RFQs, and negotiations for production parts, tooling, and services.
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Cost Estimating and Finance to drive supplier readiness and risk mitigation.
Negotiate long-term supply agreements and manage supplier performance with scorecards and corrective actions.
Develop supplier relationships, drive supplier development, and lead escalation for disruptions.
