Job summary

Chipton-Ross, Inc. seeks a Senior Buyer in Buena Park, CA to lead sourcing for raw materials, machined components, and services across a manufacturing environment.

You will develop procurement strategies, issue RFQs, negotiate terms, and manage supplier relationships while aligning with MRP demand and quality standards.

This role requires strong Excel, ERP/MRP knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Production on site.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressive purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• Experience issuing purchase orders, RFQs, negotiating terms, and managing suppliers.
• Strong knowledge of ERP or MRP systems, BOMs, drawings, and inventory controls.
• Excellent Excel skills to analyze quotations and supplier data.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and supplier relationships.
• Strong negotiation, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite with office, receiving, inspection, and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
• Prepare and evaluate RFQs; assess price, lead time, capacity, quality, and total cost of ownership.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery, MOQs, tooling charges, and terms.
• Create, maintain, and close purchase orders in ERP with accurate data.
• Monitor orders, identify shortages, and drive expediting when needed.
• Align purchases with MRP demand and inventory levels.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Quality on drawings, specs, and changes.
• Evaluate supplier performance and drive improvement actions.
• Identify alternate sources to reduce cost and risks.
• Support new products, program transfers, and make/buy decisions.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and PO variances.
• Maintain records and comply with policies and export controls.
• Provide guidance to junior buyers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
