Job description

Senior Auditor

A well-established and growing regional CPA firm in the Philadelphia metro area is looking for a Senior Auditor to step into a visible field-leadership role - managing complex engagements, mentoring staff, and serving as the trusted daily contact for a diverse client portfolio. If you want the technical depth of a large firm with the culture, flexibility, and profit-sharing of a tight-knit practice, this is the move.

What You'll Do
  • Fieldwork Leadership: Lead end-to-end audit fieldwork: plan risk-based procedures, execute complex testing, and keep engagements on schedule and on budget
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements and technical disclosures in compliance with GAAP and GAAS
  • Quality Assurance: Perform detailed initial reviews of staff workpapers, catching issues early and maintaining documentation quality
  • Client Relations: Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact - gathering evidence, answering reporting questions, and building lasting relationships
  • Risk Assessment: Identify internal control deficiencies, assess operational risks, and draft clear findings and recommendations for management
  • Mentorship: Coach and provide real-time feedback to staff auditors in the field, helping them grow toward senior roles
  • Planning: Assist managers with engagement resource planning and scheduling during busy season
What You Need
  • Experience: 3+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience, including leading fieldwork engagements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Credentials: Active CPA license (or CPA candidate actively in process of completing exams)
  • Technical Skills: Solid command of auditing frameworks, GAAP/GAAS standards, and standard audit software
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills - you are comfortable presenting findings to client management
Nice to Have
  • Experience auditing clients in specific industries such as nonprofit, manufacturing, or financial services
  • Exposure to audit software platforms beyond the basics (e.g., CaseWare, ProSystem fx Engagement)
  • Early experience supervising or reviewing staff work product
Pay & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Overtime: Paid comp time in lieu of cash for seasonal overtime hours
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with direct firm profit-sharing contributions
  • Health: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Growth: Sponsored continuing education (CPE) and a structured onboarding program
Location & Schedule
  • Location: Philadelphia, PA metro area - Southeast Asian Pennsylvania office
  • Work Model: Hybrid: up to 2 days remote per week; on-site presence expected during peak audit fieldwork periods
  • Employment Type: Full-time, permanent | Standard business hours with seasonal busy-season flex
