Job summary

Distinct | North America is a 50-person CPA firm providing audits for mid-market companies. It offers exposure to substantial clients without excessive hierarchies, enabling meaningful contributions and faster progress.

You’ll join as an Audit Senior, typically with 3+ years in public accounting, and enjoy a hybrid schedule with 1–2 days in the office. Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $120,000, plus a 5% 401(k) match, health insurance, and generous PTO.

Job description

A 50 person CPA firm auditing companies with revenues of up to $3 billion.

You'd probably expect those sorts of clients to be with a much bigger firm.

And that's partly why I think this opportunity is quite interesting.

You get exposure to some genuinely substantial businesses, without having to work somewhere with 15 layers of management and a different person approving every decision.

But the client base isn’t actually what impressed me most.

It’s what they do with your time.

Anything you work over 40 hours can be paid out or banked as additional PTO.

So those 55 to 60 hour weeks during busy season aren’t simply forgotten about once May arrives.

A few other things worth mentioning:

They introduced that route specifically to give people more opportunities to progress, which makes sense. Not everyone wants to wait for someone to retire before getting promoted.

They’re looking for an Audit Senior with around 3 years or more of public accounting experience.

Small firm, regional firm, Big 4, they’re open.

You might be perfectly happy where you are.

But sometimes the interesting opportunities aren’t necessarily the ones you’re actively looking for.
