AJ Chambers US is seeking Audit Senior professionals for opportunities across Texas. Roles involve leading audits, coordinating with managers and clients, and mentoring junior staff.

Hybrid and on-site arrangements are available, with exposure to various firms and industries within the Texas CPA market. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of external audit experience, strong US GAAP/GAAS knowledge, and excellent client-facing communication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of external audit experience in a CPA or public accounting firm.
• Experience across multiple audit engagements and client relationships.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and GAAS.
• Experience preparing and/or reviewing audit workpapers.
• Strong communication, organization and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Prior supervision or mentoring junior staff is advantageous.
• CPA license, CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA preferred but not required.
• Experience with PCAOB audits, SEC reporting, SOX, public/private/nonprofit engagements may be relevant.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute audit engagements from planning through completion.
• Perform substantive testing, risk assessments and audit workpapers.
• Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures.
• Identify audit and accounting issues and coordinate with Managers and Partners to resolve them.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients during engagements.
• Review work completed by Associates and junior team members.
• Coach, mentor and support the development of junior staff.
• Manage multiple engagements, priorities and deadlines.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable professional standards.
• Develop strong relationships with clients and identify opportunities to add value.

About the Opportunity

AJ Chambers is working with a number of CPA and public accounting firms across Texas that are looking to connect with experienced Audit professionals at the Senior level.

We are interested in speaking with Audit Seniors who may be actively considering a move, as well as those who are simply interested in understanding what opportunities are available across the Texas market.

Opportunities can vary considerably depending on the firm, from established regional and national practices through to growing independent CPA firms. Positions may offer exposure to a range of industries, greater responsibility across engagements, direct client interaction, team leadership and clear progression opportunities.

Typical Responsibilities

Depending on the firm and position, responsibilities may include:

• Leading and executing audit engagements from planning through completion.
• Performing and reviewing substantive testing, risk assessments and audit workpapers.
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements and related disclosures.
• Identifying audit and accounting issues and working with Managers and Partners to resolve them.

We would be interested in speaking with professionals who have:

• Approximately 2+ years of external audit experience, ideally within a CPA or public accounting firm.
• Experience working across multiple audit engagements and client relationships.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and GAAS.
• Experience preparing and/or reviewing audit workpapers.
• Strong communication, organization and client-facing skills.
• The ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff is advantageous.
• A CPA license, CPA eligibility or progress toward the CPA is preferred but not necessarily required for every opportunity.

Experience with PCAOB audits, SEC reporting, SOX, public companies, private companies, nonprofit, governmental or industry-specific engagements may also be relevant depending on the opportunity.
