Job summary

SEPTA is seeking a Senior Manager of Audits to lead the Internal Audit section, ensuring adequate internal controls and compliance with state, local and federal regulations across the Authority.

Based in Philadelphia, you will drive risk assessments, budgeting, staff performance, and the development of audit programs, delivering independent assessments and maintaining strong relationships with management. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field and 10 years of auditing experience in public accounting or internal audit.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to summarize and present information to management.
• Ability to build effective relationships with staff and all levels of management.
• Competency in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Participates in risk assessment activities to identify areas for audit or limited review.
• Participates in budget development and monitors costs against budget throughout the year.
• Ensures department policies and procedures are documented and followed.
• Develops and enforces structured procedures for audits and reviews.
• Writes, edits and approves communications originating from Internal Audit to Authority management.
• Performs annual performance reviews of Internal Audit staff and supervisors.
• Reviews audit programs, work papers, and supporting Internal Audit Reports.
• Evaluates procurement/training/travel requests for the Internal Audit section.
• Develops departmental policies and interprets their applicability throughout the department.
• Establishes goals for the Internal Audit section aligned with department and Authority objectives.
• Manages department expenses to stay within budget and ensure needed services.
• Oversees time submissions and adherence to entitlement balances and policy.
• Represents Internal Control interests during new processes under development.
• Performs other duties as required.
