BMSS Advisors & CPAs in Alabama is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead audits, reviews, and other assurance engagements for a diverse client base. You will work directly with clients to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance throughout the engagement.

The ideal candidate is a CPA or CPA-eligible with 3–5+ years of public accounting audit experience, strong GAAP/GAAS knowledge, and a collaborative mindset that thrives in a people-first culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's or CPA preferred).
• CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
• 3-5+ years of public accounting experience focused on audit/assurance.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and internal controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and audit software (CaseWare, ProSystem fx Engagement).
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engagements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through completion.
• Prepare and review workpapers and financial statements per GAAP.
• Mentor junior staff and manage multiple client engagements.
• Conduct internal control and risk assessments to identify improvements.
• Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations to clients.
• Research and resolve accounting and auditing issues.
• Ensure engagements comply with firm standards and deadlines.
