Job summary

BMSS Advisors & CPAs in Ridgeland seeks a Senior Accountant to lead audits, reviews, and other assurance engagements for a diverse client mix.

You'll work directly with clients to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance, while mentoring junior staff and managing multiple engagements against deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's or CPA preferred).
• CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
• 3–5+ years of public accounting experience focused on audit/assurance.
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and internal controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and audit/accounting software (CaseWare, ProSystem fx Engagement).
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through completion.
• Prepare and review workpapers and financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
• Mentor junior staff and manage multiple client engagements.
• Conduct internal control and risk assessments to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Communicate proactively with clients regarding engagement progress, audit findings, and recommendations.
• Research and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues.
• Ensure engagements comply with professional and firm standards, as well as deadlines.
