Job summary

Seminole County, Board of County Commissioners, seeks a skilled Traffic Systems Technician to oversee maintenance of the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) and related signal hardware. You will coordinate with contractors, test and install signal equipment, and ensure reliable operation of UPS and networked devices across roadway projects.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, 7+ years in electronics or traffic signal work, and relevant IMSA/CDL credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with extensive electronics knowledge.
• CDL Class B license and IMSA certificates required/desired.
• Experience in traffic signal systems and ATMS administration.
• Familiarity with MUTCD, NEC, NEMA and ITS standards.
• Ability to test, repair, and test traffic signal equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees maintenance of traffic signal equipment, UPS, video detection, and adaptive control systems.
• Coordinates with contractors and staff on design, installation, and testing of signals.
• Performs system administration for ATMS software and related tools.
• Gathers data, answers queries, and supports legal matters related to traffic signals.
• Plans work schedules, assigns duties, and ensures proper operation on projects.
• Responds to public inquiries and provides technical assistance to signal personnel.
• Maintains equipment inventory and processes purchase orders for materials.
• Performs on-call duties for after-hours emergencies.
