Job summary

Seminole County is seeking an Administrative and Technical specialist to coordinate daily maintenance of the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) and Fiber Optic WAN. The role designs, installs, and maintains ATMS infrastructure and liaises with city, county, and state agencies for upgrades.

You will manage AutoCAD drawings for 300 roadway miles of fiber and 150 outlying facilities, troubleshoot Naztec signaling systems, and document work using Maintstar.

Qualifications

• Completion of Associate's Degree and five years' experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• ISMA Level II Signals required or the ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Knowledge of traffic operations theories and database management.
• Must present ideas clearly in oral and written form.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day maintenance of ATMS and WAN.
• Plan, design, install and maintain ATMS and fiber optic network.
• Maintain AutoCAD drawings for >300 roadway miles of fiber and 150+ buildings.
• Test system performance, analyze results and troubleshoot programming errors.

Job description

Administrative and technical work coordinating the day-to-day maintenance operation of the County's Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).Plans, designs, installs and maintains Seminole County's Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) and Fiber Optic Wide Area Network (WAN). Acts as a liaison on projects including assisting other agencies (elected officials, municipalities. etc.) with design recommendations, configuration, installation, and interoperability of networking equipment. Coordinates with and advises local cities, counties, state, colleges, and other county departments of network needs and upgrades. Maintains AutoCAD drawings of more than 300 roadway miles of fiber optic cable including more than 150 outlying buildings (fire stations, libraries, high schools, and other satellite government offices. Performs design, installation, and maintenance of data networking equipment (switches, routers, hubs, encoders, terminal servers, etc.)

Knowledge of and experience with traffic operations theories and practice and database management.

Must present ideas clearly and concisely orally and in writing.

Perform functional and performance tests, analyze test results, detect programming errors and perform proper corrective action.

Troubleshoot various video equipment, DMS, network equipment and Naztec signal equipment.

Meet and deal effectively with the public, county staff, and Elected Officials. Organize and prioritize tasks simultaneously.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Performs system administration for County's ATMS. Monitor FDOT Traffic Feeds. Utilize Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) to show travel times, any road closures or incidents, and Amber Alerts.

Monitors and troubleshoots traffic signal control equipment utilizing Naztec Streetwise software. Maintains signal timings database.

Performs technical work in data collection, analysis and assembly of traffic related data for use in traffic operations.

Performs on-call duty for after-hours emergencies or other standby requirements as necessary.

Coordinates ATMS activities with the Florida Department of Transportation and local governmental agencies. Documents work accomplished using Maintstar.

Performs other duties as assigned.

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
