Job summary

Seminole County is seeking a skilled Traffic Signals Technician to manage and maintain the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) and related signal equipment. The role involves coordinating with contractors and agencies on design, installation, and interoperability of signal systems, while overseeing preventive maintenance and after-hours support.

The ideal candidate brings extensive knowledge of electronics, signal operations, and software such as ATMS.now and SynchroGreen, plus IMSA

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required with seven years of related experience.
  • IMSA certificates required or desirable; licensure preferred.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NEMA, IMSA codes and MUTCD guidance.
  • Experience with traffic signal systems, adaptive control, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance of traffic signal equipment, UPS, video detection, and adaptive control systems.
  • Coordinate design, installation, and testing with contractors and other agencies.
  • Perform system administration for ATMS software and related tools.
  • Test and validate repairs with manufacturers and ensure proper operation on projects.
  • Gathers data, answers questions, and provides technical training to signal personnel.
  • Schedule and supervise staff, approve work plans, and manage preventive maintenance.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
