Job summary

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a leading national law firm, seeks a Senior Associate or Senior Counsel to join its Professional Responsibility practice group in Boston, MA, with hybrid or remote options. The role offers responsibility for case strategy, client relationships, and business development within a nationally recognized litigation platform.

The candidate should have 5+ years of litigation experience, MA Bar admission, and strong deposition and writing skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in professional liability, legal malpractice, insurance defense, or other complex civil litigation.
• Admission to the Massachusetts Bar and good standing; admission in other jurisdictions a plus.
• Strong deposition, motion practice, and case management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a litigation docket.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Strong client service orientation and interpersonal skills.
• Interest in developing client relationships and contributing to practice growth.

Responsibilities

• Manage professional liability and malpractice matters through all phases of litigation.
• Develop case strategy and evaluate liability, causation, damages, and risk exposure issues.
• Take and defend depositions, argue motions, and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Draft and supervise the preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and expert materials.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, insurers, and witnesses.
• Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants across a variety of professional disciplines.
• Mentor junior associates and contribute to team development and training.
• Participate in business development initiatives, client presentations, and industry events.
• Support trial preparation and, where applicable, serve as first-chair or second-chair trial counsel.
