Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Senior Associate for its Los Angeles investment team. The role involves evaluating opportunities, performing financial analysis, underwriting, and coordinating transaction workstreams across the investment cycle.

You will work closely with portfolio company management and senior leadership, contributing to value creation through operational improvements and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Prior private equity experience in a middle-market setting.
• Strong M&A and transaction execution experience.
• Experience with leveraged buyouts, carve-outs, restructurings, or special situations.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, and underwriting skills.
• Hands-on mindset with ability to manage key workstreams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new investment opportunities and support transaction execution.
• Build and oversee financial models, valuations, and investment underwriting.
• Conduct due diligence and coordinate key transaction workstreams.
• Prepare investment committee materials and recommendations.
• Collaborate with portfolio company management on strategic and operational initiatives.
• Evaluate add-on acquisitions and other value-creation opportunities.
• Support junior investment professionals through the transaction process.
• Assist with portfolio monitoring and eventual exits.
