Job summary

Amgen seeks a Patent Operations, Senior Associate Paralegal to provide paralegal and docketing support for U.S. and foreign patent matters. You’ll coordinate with attorneys, agents, and outside counsel to keep matters and deadlines on track across multiple sites. Remote candidates may be considered.

Responsibilities include opening matters, reviewing office communications, and generating IPMS reports while safeguarding confidential information and supporting process improvements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree with IP docketing experience; or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree with IP docketing experience; or equivalent.
• High school diploma with IP docketing experience.
• Four or more years IP experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industries.
• Experience with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, including PCT and Paris filings.
• Proficiency with ANAQUA or similar IP management systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organization; ability to escalate issues.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Open new patent matters in IPMS; enter filing dates and data from intake materials.
• Review correspondence and docket prosecution events; verify dates and tasks.
• Monitor dockets, follow up on deadlines, and escalate issues timely.
• Keep task comments and matter notes current with contacts and actions.
• Coordinate foreign filing decisions and foreign filing timelines.
• Prepare and send foreign filing instructions and confirmations.
• Generate IPMS reports and provide portfolio information to attorneys.
• Conduct data-quality reviews and coordinate corrections.
• Coordinate annuities and maintenance fees per procedures.
• Safeguard confidential information and support process improvements.
