Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking an Associate General Counsel Senior to serve as the legal subject matter expert on MHPAEA, working with business and Compliance partners to ensure compliance and respond to regulator investigations.

The role requires in-office presence three days per week, with flexible remote options and potential travel for coordination with enterprise teams. Ideal candidate has JD and 15+ years of relevant experience, including managing outside counsel.

Qualifications

• Requires a JD, current license to practice law and minimum of 15 years of industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure.
• Experience in managing outside counsel.
• Preferred: MHPAEA experience and regulator interactions.

Responsibilities

• Creates legal strategies and evaluates risks to support MHPAEA compliance.
• Advises leadership on mental health parity issues and regulatory changes.
• Coordinates responses to federal DOL and CMS audits for Anthem health plans and clients.
• Advises on state MHPAEA audits, filings and annual reports.
• Reviews and modifies cost of care initiatives with parity impact.
• Engages with sales teams to respond to MHPAEA-related inquiries.
• Collaborates with Public Affairs and external groups on policy discussions.
