Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking an Associate General Counsel Senior to act as the MHPAEA subject matter expert and strategic legal advisor. The role requires in-office collaboration three days a week with flexible options for commuting candidates.

You will guide parity compliance, respond to regulator inquiries, and coordinate audits across federal and state programs. A JD and 15+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a JD, current license to practice law and minimum of 15 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure including experience in managing outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Creates legal strategies and evaluates risks to support MHPAEA compliance.
• Advises leadership and the MHPAEA steering committee on parity issues and regulatory changes.
• Coordinates responses to federal DOL and CMS audits for Anthem health plans and clients.
• Advises on state MHPAEA audits, filings and ad hoc filings.
• Reviews and modifies cost of care initiatives with parity impact.
• Develops tools for sales teams to respond to MHPAEA inquiries.
• Engages with Public Affairs and outside counsel as MHPAEA rules evolve.
