Job summary

Novogradac is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to support the General Counsel in handling a broad range of legal matters across multiple U.S. offices, with potential remote or hybrid work depending on business needs.

The role requires a JD with 5–8 years of relevant experience and active bar status. You will draft and negotiate contracts, advise on client engagements, manage subpoenas, and coordinate real estate and IP matters for a national firm.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree with 5–8 years of attorney experience.
• In good standing with the Bar of at least one U.S. state.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize deadlines.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a variety of contracts with clients, vendors and third parties.
• Litigation experience required; professional liability defense preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Counsel in advising and representing the firm in contractual matters.
• Provide legal guidance on client engagements and various agreements (MSAs, NDAs, SaaS, etc.).
• Manage subpoena compliance and other court-related matters.
• Review leases and real estate documents for firm premises nationwide.
• Protect the firm's IP and coordinate with outside counsel on complex matters.
• Investigate and handle employment-related legal issues.
• Manage contracts/legal team to meet KPIs and expectations.
