Job summary

Municipal Credit Union seeks an Associate General Counsel to lead litigation strategy, manage outside counsel, and advise on complex regulatory matters. The AGC will draft and negotiate contracts, review legal documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

The role reports to the Deputy General Counsel, with responsibilities spanning risk assessment, internal guidance, and coordination with the Board and regulators. Hybrid work arrangement in the United States is offered.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required and bar admission in New York.
• Active admission to practice law in New York is required.
• At least five years in law firm or corporate legal dept, with two years in financial services.
• Experience with litigation and managing outside counsel.
• Experience with consumer financial protection laws and regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend MCU in litigation and oversee outside counsel.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, leases, licenses, and related agreements.
• Advise management and business units on legal/regulatory matters.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and communicate developments.
• Prepare weekly status reports and provide updates to the Board and regulators.
