Job summary

Municipal Credit Union (MCU) seeks an Associate General Counsel to lead legal matters, manage litigation, and oversee outside counsel. The role requires NY bar admission, strong writing, and deep experience with contracts and regulatory issues affecting financial services.

The AGC will advise executives, review agreements, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel. This is a high-responsibility, on-site role in New York.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the New York State bar is required.
• At least five years in a law firm or corporate legal dept, with finance-related matters preferred.
• Litigation and outside counsel management experience is expected.
• Strong writing and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Defend MCU in litigation and oversee outside counsel.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and related agreements.
• Advise management and business units on legal and regulatory matters.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and communicate changes to teams.
• Prepare disclosures and participate in Board and regulator reporting.
