Job summary

White & Case LLP's Trade Practice in Washington, DC is seeking a senior associate with export controls experience to advise multinational clients on complex regulatory matters affecting cross-border goods, services and technologies.

You will collaborate with global practitioners, support U.S. and international export control compliance, licensing, classification, due diligence, and government disclosures, with opportunities to lead and mentor.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor or equivalent degree required.
• DC bar admission or eligibility to practice in DC.
• 3–6 years of export controls experience.
• Strong EAR/ITAR familiarity; DOE/CFIUS knowledge preferred.
• Experience filing with US government agencies (CCATS, CJ, licenses, VSDs, TAAs, MLAs, WDAs, DSP‑5s, ITAR notices).

Responsibilities

• Advise on EAR and ITAR classification and licensing.
• Prepare and submit CCATS, CJ determinations, license apps and VSDs.
• Handle ITAR registrations, TAAs, MLAs, WDAs and DSP‑5s.
• Provide DOE 10 C.F.R. Part 810 guidance.
• Lead due diligence for export control in M&A and other transactions.
• Draft and implement export compliance policies and training.
• Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to BD and thought leadership.
