Am Law 100 law firm in Washington, DC seeks a Counsel or Senior Associate-level Export Controls attorney to join its International Trade practice. The successful candidate will have at least five years of substantial experience advising on U.S.

export controls, with emphasis on EAR and ITAR. Responsibilities include client counseling, regulatory filings, license procurement, and development of compliance programs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Significant experience directly counseling clients on U.S. export controls.
• Substantial working knowledge of the EAR and ITAR.
• Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Membership in the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility for immediate waiver.

Responsabilités

• Advise clients regarding EAR, ITAR, and related export control requirements.
• Provide ongoing regulatory and compliance counseling on export control matters.
• Conduct jurisdiction and classification analyses.
• Advise on encryption, emerging technologies, and controlled technologies.
• Obtain BIS and DDTC export licenses and analyze license exceptions and exemptions.
• Counsel non-U.S. companies on extraterritorial impact of U.S. export controls.
• Conduct or supervise restricted-party screening and export-control due diligence.
• Prepare DDTC registrations and related regulatory filings.
• Develop export-control compliance programs and training.
• Advise on voluntary disclosures and conduct internal investigations.
