Duties & Responsibilities

As the Senior Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for all aspects of Indiana foreclosure matters, from initial preparation to resolution. Your duties will include:

  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving foreclosure-related pleadings.

  • Actively participating in mediations, depositions, telephonic hearings, and in-person hearings.
  • Conducting regular client meetings and providing timely updates.
  • Managing staff and the Indianapolis office, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for client development to expand the firm’s presence in Indiana.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
  • Active membership in good standing with the State of Indiana Bar.
  • A minimum of 8 years of work experience exclusively handling Indiana foreclosures.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize a large caseload effectively.

  • Conscientious with respect to work completion, meeting deadlines, time management, and attendance.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with the capacity to work at a fast pace and capable of multi-tasking.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • This position is based on-site/hybrid in the Indianapolis metro area.

Non-Negotiable Requirements For This Position

For this role, we have several absolute requirements that candidates must meet:

  • Active Indiana Bar Membership: You must be a member in good standing with the State of Indiana Bar. This is a fundamental requirement for practicing law and representing clients in Indiana foreclosure matters.
  • Extensive Indiana Foreclosure Experience: A minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience handling Indiana foreclosures is essential. This role demands advanced knowledge and the ability to independently manage complex foreclosure proceedings, including contested matters.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are critical, especially for client interactions and legal documentation. Clear and professional communication is paramount for superior client service and effective courtroom appearances.
  • Ability to Manage and Prioritize a Heavy Caseload: You must demonstrate a proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of cases. This requires strong time management, organizational skills, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality.

Nice-to-Have Skills

While not strictly required, the following skills would be a significant asset to a successful candidate:

  • Management or Leadership Experience: Given the responsibilities of staff and office management, prior experience leading a legal team or managing an office would enable you to hit the ground running.
  • Client Development Skills: The role includes opportunities for client development, so a candidate with business development experience or an existing client network could significantly contribute to expanding the firm’s Indiana presence.
  • Familiarity with Client Systems or Case Management Software: Experience with legal technology platforms or client-specific systems (e.g., Black Knight, Caseware) would help streamline workflow and communication.

This role is central to the firm’s Indiana foreclosure practice. As the Senior Associate Attorney, you will oversee legal matters from initiation through resolution, managing contested foreclosures, pleadings, hearings, and crucial client communication. Your expertise and leadership are vital to the firm’s litigation services and overall success in Indiana.

What’s Exciting About This Opportunity

This isn’t just another legal position; it’s a chance to make a significant impact and advance your career. Here’s what makes this opportunity truly exciting:

  • High-Level Responsibility and Autonomy: This is a leadership position where you’ll oversee legal operations, manage staff, and serve as the firm’s primary attorney for Indiana foreclosure matters. This level of responsibility offers substantial influence and independence.
  • Strategic Career Growth: With built-in opportunities for client development, you’ll not only maintain relationships but also actively contribute to growing the firm’s presence in Indiana. This role serves as an excellent stepping stone to future leadership or even partner-track positions.
  • Lead a Local Office: Being based in the Indianapolis metro area, you’ll have the unique chance to be the face of the firm in a key market. You’ll represent Brock & Scott in court, in client meetings, and within the community.
  • Challenging, High-Impact Legal Work: Handling contested foreclosures, mediations, depositions, and hearings provides complex, meaningful legal challenges that will keep your work engaging and impactful.
  • Client Interaction and Relationship Management: Frequent client updates and meetings will place you at the heart of client service, strengthening your professional reputation and building long-term connections.

Are you ready to take on a leadership role and shape the future of our Indiana foreclosure practice?
