Job summary

Symetra, a leading financial services company, seeks an Alternative Assets Senior Associate to help lead investments across private equity, private credit, secondaries, and related opportunities for SIM's clients, including affiliated life insurance portfolios. The role is hybrid, based in Farmington, CT (Mandatory 2 days in office).

Qualifications

• BS degree in economics, finance, accounting, mathematics, or other suitable field with appropriate quantitative skills/background.
• 5+ years of experience in a front office role in a bank, insurance company, pension fund, or other asset management firm.
• 5+ years of experience in alternative asset management, with willingness to take on increasing responsibilities.
• Understanding of the insurance company framework and exposure to alternative investments in a capital efficient manner.
• Capital market fundamentals and knowledge of private equity and private credit spaces.

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and implement alternative asset investment opportunities with focus on risk/return, diversification, capital/tax efficiency, and other client-specific considerations.
• Conduct manager due diligence and coordinate with other areas of SIM; develop relationships with sourcing partners.
• Present recommendations internally and collaborate with legal and compliance on documentation.
