Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Projects Engineer in St. Paul to support State Aid roadway projects.

You will act as a technical liaison to leadership, MnDOT districts, and local agencies on design standards and project delivery. Ideal candidates hold a professional engineer license, have highway engineering experience, and can navigate FHWA policies and local contract processes.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board (AELSLAGID) and, if via comity, a temporary permit may be required.
• Experience with highway engineering practices and principles.
• Knowledge of FHWA regulations, policies and delegated contract processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist the State Aid Projects Engineer as a technical liaison to leadership, District State Aid Engineers, MnDOT and local agencies on the State Aid roadway system.
• Support programs such as the State Aid Design Advisory Committee, State Park Road Account, and Local Partnership Program.
• Work from Central Office in St. Paul with potential telework, hybrid, or in-office arrangements.
